Today’s typo is from a truly awe-inspiring puzzle site, containing literally tens of thousands of well-presented interactive puzzles, edited by Otto and Angela Janko of Austria.

Here is how Babelfish translated the instructions for Spotlight, the newest type of puzzle on the site:

Babelfish translations usually sound like they’re written in some mysterious dialect of pidgin English, but still — “pig throwers”? What in the world could they mean by that?

OK, let’s check the original German:

Aha, mystery solved. Scheinwerfer is literally “light thrower”, or “spotlight”, so yes, Schweinwerfer would be “pig thrower” and Babelfish is vindicated.

NB: I hasten to add that this is a meticulously maintained site, and typos are quite rare. But this one was too funny not to share.
